Enagic's machines are water ionizers and have a small internal filter. That internal filter has Chlorine reduction certification but some local water suppliers have switched to Chloramine because it less expensive and the disinfecting effect lasts longer than Chlorine. Chloramine reduction requires a different filtration media.

These machines' primary function is to ionize your source water.

These machines are not filters and require a pre-filter system based on the contaminants in your source water. If you look at Enagic lists of supplies they have always offered pre-filters and if you go to any of their offices where the machines are set up to dispense ionized water, you will see the current pre-filters in line with their machines.

While Enagic machines have the Water Quality Association's Gold Seal ANSI/NSF 42 Certification there can be far more contaminants in our source water than the single internal filter can address. See the EPA Drinking Water Contaminant Report and your local Water Quality Report.

If the person that sold you the machine is not knowledgable enough to help you then look at your local water report and then look at the reduction claims on the pre-filters that Enagic sells.

If you look at the Enagic online product store, you will find that Enagic offers NSF certified pre-filter options based on your source water filtration needs. Enagic's machines are the only water ionizers that have water filtration certifications for the Kangen Water produced by their machines: NSF/ANSI 42 and 18.
